On May 18, the Wills Park Pool in Alpharetta transforms into a launchpad for young athletes at the Peach Kids’ Triathlon—an inspiring race co-sponsored by Podium and all3sports.com where confidence is built one stroke, pedal, and step at a time.

The day kicks off with the swim, a zig-zag course through a 25-yard outdoor pool. With a time-trial start, each athlete plunges in individually, spaced just three seconds apart, swimming one lane at a time before shifting over to the next. Lifeguards line the deck, cheering and watching attentively as kids—from first-timers to mini-veterans—tackle the first leg of their triathlon journey. Goggles in place, caps tight, and hearts racing, it’s a true test of focus and grit.

Next comes transition—a flurry of wet feet, quick towel-offs, and helmet clicks. The transition area is both swim-to-bike and bike-to-run, giving each participant a dedicated space to rack their bike and prepare for the next phase. Parents are not allowed inside once the race starts, but volunteers are everywhere, guiding and encouraging the racers.
The bike course takes young riders onto a looped road route closed to traffic, ensuring safety as they race through divisions. Juniors complete one 1.5-mile loop, Intermediates go for two, and Seniors take on four. Volunteers with signs and big smiles line the route, reminding cyclists to pass on the left and keep it steady as they push through the ride.

From there, it’s on to the run—a final burst of effort on paved walkways and grassy paths. Again, distances grow with age group, from 500 yards for Juniors to 2K for Seniors. Water stations are ready, and the cheering grows louder as each runner heads toward the finish line.
The Peach Kids’ Triathlon emphasizes fun, safety, and sportsmanship, with full USAT rules in effect, including the mandatory timing chip, helmet use, and proper race bib placement. The event offers a rare mix of competition and community, empowering kids to stretch their limits while celebrating every finish—no matter the pace.
With snacks waiting at the finish and high-fives all around, it’s more than just a race—it’s a celebration of courage, preparation, and pride. For many, it’s the first step in a lifelong love of sport.
