Every once in a while, a bike comes along that doesn’t just fit neatly into a category; it redefines what the category can do. The new Factor ALUTO is exactly that kind of machine. It’s a gravel bike engineered for riders who demand the speed and sharpness of a race bike but need the endurance, balance, and adaptability to take on long rides and shifting terrain. Think of it as a pocketknife with a razor’s edge: sharp when you need it, versatile enough to handle whatever the road, or trail, throws at you.
The ALUTO is equally at home darting through fans on Mont Ventoux, ripping across technical gravel, or rolling smooth on open tarmac. A bike that proves an all-rounder can be a racer.
Built for Balance
The ALUTO’s geometry is designed around 45 mm tires (with clearance up to 47 mm in the rear and 52 mm in the front). That choice wasn’t arbitrary. Instead of chasing the widest rubber possible, Factor’s engineers focused on balance. The result? Handling that feels bright, snappy, and alive, even when the road tilts upward or the trail gets rough.
Compared to Factor’s OSTRO Gravel, the ALUTO has a slightly steeper head tube angle and shorter wheelbase, making it feel more agile in tight situations. A lowered bottom bracket stabilizes the ride, giving you confidence at speed. And with a slightly higher stack, the fit is more adaptable without compromising race-ready positioning.
Precision Handling, Long-Haul Comfort
Factor bikes have always been known for their handling, and the ALUTO raises that bar. The minimal-design fork with reduced volume pairs with wider tires to deliver grip and comfort without sacrificing responsiveness. The front-end lay-up is tuned to fight fatigue, giving the bike a lighter, sharper ride feel over long hours in the saddle. As David Millar, Factor’s Brand Director and former pro, said after racing the ALUTO at Unbound 200:
“I noticed something different about the ALUTO the moment I got on it. It felt like it was alive… light and bright, which I wasn’t expecting. Yet it still feels stable at speed, and the ride quality is so bright. It’s one of those bikes that puts a smile on your face.”
Function Meets Speed
Gravel racing today demands more than just performance; it demands practicality. The ALUTO delivers with downtube storage for tools and essentials, eliminating the drag of bar bags or saddle packs. The frame is built exclusively for electronic drivetrains with hydraulic brakes, keeping the design sleek, stiff, and future-proof. Clean internal cable routing ensures both easy maintenance and crisp aesthetics.
Factor also built in 1x and 2x compatibility, UDH rear dropout for drivetrain flexibility, and multiple mounts for bottles and accessories. Whether you’re racing 50 miles of fast gravel, tackling a 300 km adventure, or lining up for the next Unbound, the ALUTO can be set up for the task.
Fast Enough for Podiums, Refined for Endurance
The ALUTO isn’t meant to sit below the OSTRO Gravel in the Factor lineup—it’s designed to stand beside it. Where the OSTRO is purebred fast gravel, the ALUTO shines with a more elastic, responsive, and centered ride feel. It’s the bike for those who want speed, but also want to feel fresh after the long haul.
As Factor’s designer Mike McGinn summed it up: “The ALUTO is a perfect synergy of speed and capability with a specific ride feel that allows you to be fast whether it’s rough tarmac or light singletrack trails.”
