When Velo tested the new Factor Aluto, reviewer Alvin Holbrook called it “a do-all gravel bike with a road-centric focus,” adding that it “checks almost every box for the road-centric enthusiast.” The Aluto, Holbrook wrote, feels equally at home on pavement or gravel—built for long rides that blur the line between speed and exploration.

Holbrook first spotted the bike at Unbound Gravel 2025, noting that it “looked lighter, simpler, and less fussy than the gravel bikes around it.” Gone are the aero tube shapes of Factor’s Ostro Gravel; the Aluto trades complexity for clean lines and versatility.

Designed to complement the Ostro Gravel, the Aluto aims to be the brand’s all-around option, more approachable, with a smoother, steadier ride. Holbrook praised Factor’s practical choices, calling it “about as uncomplicated as it gets from the Factor lineup.” A threaded bottom bracket, round seatpost, and accessible geometry make the Aluto easy to live with, while its handling remains quick and lively.

“The Aluto feels ready for riding long distances on road and gravel alike,” Holbrook said, highlighting its balance of stability and agility. He also noted that the geometry feels intentionally tuned for mid-width tires, keeping the bike fast on hardpack and comfortable on dirt. Even in a short test period, Holbrook found plenty to like. He described the bike as refined, responsive, and “bright” on the road—quick without being twitchy, confident without being dull. His only caution: tire clearance in the rear triangle is tight, best suited for 48 mm tires or smaller.

For riders who crave the efficiency of a road bike but the freedom of gravel, Holbrook’s verdict was clear: the Factor Aluto delivers. “The Factor Aluto feels ready for riding long distances on road and gravel alike,” he concluded.
