The Atlanta Triathlon Club has built a reputation as one of the city’s most inclusive training groups for multisport athletes, offering structured workouts, a strong social network and support for members at every level of experience.
Founded with the idea that anyone can train for a triathlon regardless of skill or equipment, the club provides a range of group sessions in swimming, cycling and running. It also maintains a busy social calendar and a mentoring system to help new members integrate quickly. The “Connectors” program pairs newcomers with veteran athletes who can guide them through training routines, club culture and event participation.
The swimming program features two organized, coach-led practices each week, with lanes separated by ability. Beginners can join a dedicated lane at Monday and Wednesday evening practices, while more advanced swimmers train alongside peers of similar speed. During the summer months, the club offers two to three supported open-water swims each month at Red Top Mountain in Cartersville.
Cycling sessions take place year-round, both indoors and outdoors. At Energy Lab, the club’s cycling studio, members can ride their own bikes on computrainers or use the facility’s CycleOps bikes. Monthly performance testing helps athletes keep their training zones current. Summer activities include Thursday night hill repeats in Buckhead, often followed by informal gatherings at a local pizzeria, and supported long rides on weekends. Winter weekends feature indoor rides at Energy Lab. Riders who are new to group cycling are paired with others at a similar pace and distance.
The club’s running program includes a Tuesday evening group run in Buckhead and a seasonal Thursday morning track workout at the Active Oval in Piedmont Park. Supported weekend runs rotate through various locations in and around Atlanta, with pace and distance groups to match participants.
In addition to training, members take part in race-day activities, friendly competitions, club parties and other social events. An online forum and private Facebook group provide access to training information and allow members to connect outside of workouts.
Membership includes a one-time enrollment fee and club-branded gear. Athletes who are not ready for a full commitment can take advantage of a seven-day trial or purchase single-session or multi-session passes.
