Built using the E-118 mold and a product of the same R&D process, here is a bike embodying many of the E-118's qualities of refined aerodynamics, rigidity, comfort and light weight. Presenting the E-116, another outstanding example of OPTIMAL BALANCE, in Triathlon and Time-Trial form.
Of course, aero efficiency in the bike is only part of the solution to being fast. The rider represents 70% of total drag in real-world situations, so it becomes very important to position the athlete optimally for power, comfort and aerodynamics.
Our AFS-Tri (Argon Fit System) geometry has been applied to the aero-bike realm, making it particularly easy to adapt the bike to different physiques and fitness levels. Finding the optimal position is straightforward and proper positioning allows the rider stay in an optimal aero tuck longer and more comfortably which makes for faster racing!
Because they share the same mold, the E-116 and E-118 share the same geometry.
AFS geometry ensures the bike remains stable and the steering accurate, even in the most intense effort. Every aspect of the geometry contributes to increased control and an optimal position. Two of these play a particularly decisive role:
- Long chainstays: 39.5cm long in all frame sizes, they are longer than most of our competitors’ stays. The result is increased stability at high speed as well as crisp, faultless shifting, every time…because time is scarce.
- BB-Drop 75: While our competitors set their bottom bracket at a 70 or even 60 mm drop below the wheel hub centerline, we chose to drop ours a little lower, at 75mm. Why? The lower center of gravity makes for a more stable, solid-feeling ride.
